In Seoul, the weather is so unpredictable; hot all day then out of the blue it will rain for a minute. As a result, girls are wearing wellies when the sun is shining and sandals when it is raining. That day I had a few meetings in Dongdaemun so I opted for trousers and a little top to handle the heat. However I didn’t get the memo; there was a torrential rain and I had peep toe ankle boots, no jacket and no UMBRELLA! Pretty bad for a person living in London, I should have known better. The rain was so strong that the umbrella sellers were suddenly the kings on the street and I wasted no time grabbing a Hello Kitty one (of course). It was funny to see people trying to find shelters by the malls staring at the sky frightened as if acid was pouring.
Later on, I walked around Insa-dong by my hotel, an area with many calligraphy and porcelain stores, art galleries and wooden tea houses. It really is a “Tradition meets Modernity” kind of place. Unfortunately due to the weather and time, most places were shut but if you have a chance to come to Seoul, visit Insa-dong during the day as there are plenty of things to see!
I went to a lovely tea house and tried an iced green tea Sherbet, which had beans and a chocolate sauce inside, and iced pumpkin tea with rice pudding and some pastry. I forgot the name of the cakes but they were quite delicious!
And as always, using the world as my playground, here’s another GIF for you!
P.S. Apologies for the delay in posting but Internet was not working…
